Taking your event online in a world of uncertainty…

Thousands of in-person events have been cancelled due to the global coronavirus pandemic. This has not only affected the attendees and event organizers of such events, but also the communities and event venues that were planning on generating millions (if not billions) in revenue from these events. Many workers will lose their jobs, their livelihood and the greater economy will suffer because of it.

But it doesn’t have to sound so bleak…

As with any adversity, there are always opportunities if people are willing and able to find them. In this case, there are several virtual events startups like Hopin and Run the World that are poised to help event organizers take their face-to-face events online. In fact, I’m planning on launching a couple of different online events this year…more specifically, The Songwriting Expo and The Internet Marketing Expo. I’ll be using this blog to help document my journey planning and executing both events).

So how does one learn to become a virtual events producer. While I’ve produced several in-person meetings and events throughout my career, I believe in continuing education to stay on top of new developments within the industry and in mastering new skills that must be learned. There are several virtual summits courses in the marketplace including Virtual Summit Mastery by Navid Moazzez and Virtual Summit School by Bailey Richert. I’m actually enrolled in both courses and will be happy to provide a review of both once I’ve completed them. There’s also Dr. Mark Wade’s series of courses on everything related to virtual summits.
